The focus of therapy is to help clients change their lives from the core out. The goal of our therapy sessions is to establish a safe, non-judgemental relationship where together we can address the dynamics that hold one back from finding the contentment that they deserve.
Using a supportive, intensive, short term, dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP), we can uncover and address the unhealthy, anxiety causing patterns that are perpetuating unhappiness as quickly as possible.
Lisa is a Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and has been counselling for 30 years.
Lisa has worked for a number of private and non-profit organizations and even supervised other counsellors.
Some of Lisa’s clients struggle from depression. Be they youth trying to navigate the transition to adulthood or new moms struggling with post-partum depression.
Lisa also helps people trying to overcome addictions and a variety of circumstances in Employee Assistance counselling.
“Spiritual teachers often exhort us to be loving and compassionate, or to give up selfishness and aggression, but how can we do this if our habitual tendencies arise out of a whole system of psychological dynamics that we have never clearly seen or faced, much less worked with? People often have to feel, acknowledge, and come to terms with their anger before they can arrive at genuine forgiveness or compassion.”
– John Welwood, from Toward a Psychology of Awakening
After 30 years of experience in counselling, Lisa has come to an awareness of what is truly effective in helping people discover – and ultimately solve – their problems to lead a happier life.
Lisa has an opening in the Cowichan Valley to see clients in person or the world over using FaceTime.
